Before I say goodbye, I would like to say thank you. Thank you all for following along my journey as I learn about Mexico, a country that means so much to me and my family. My parents are Mexican immigrants and I grew up with Mexican food and traditions in the United States, but this experience has allowed me to learn even more about myself and where I come from. Ever since September, when I began my journey living in Mexico, I have learned so much about Mexican food, traditions, music, dance and people. While living in Mexico, I celebrated Independence Day, Dia de Muertos, and Revolution Day, which brought me joy and a new perspective to my own Mexican-American experience.

Living in a completely new place, Atlacomulco, was also nerve-racking at first because it is the first time I have lived somewhere other than California. However, being a Fulbrighter has taught me to be open, take more risks, and view everything as an opportunity. Although I miss my family, friends, and the comfort of living in the United States, I also value the new community I have built through Fulbright. As an English Teaching Assistant, I have gotten to visit many towns and communities around my region while working with incredibly intelligent teachers and students.
