I am currently enrolled in a study-abroad program in Valencia, Spain for the spring semester. Here, we will explore the food, daily life, culture and traditions that exist here in Spain's third largest city. My host city offers a vibrant atmosphere that includes astonishing architecture, important monuments, a bustling city life-style and a unique sense of community.
I would like to start off by introducing myself! My name is Alyssa Brendemuehl, and I was born in Sturgeon Bay, WI, where I graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 2022. I am now a second-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and am currently fulfilling an immersion requirement through a program in Spain. I study both psychology and Spanish and have a strong passion to help children with their mental health and well-being for my future career pursuits.
I decided to apply for this opportunity due to my desire to gain global perspective and to practice the language in a Spanish-speaking country. I started taking Spanish courses when I was in seventh grade with Doña Canilho, and from the start, I knew that this was something that I wanted to commit to because I thoroughly enjoyed the learning process.
