Traveler Bio

Mba'éichapa! Hi everyone! My name is Amalie Ball, and I am 24 years old. I was born and raised in New Hope, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Growing up I loved traveling and being outside, with animals and playing sports! I went to high school in New Hampshire, where I fell in love with the outdoors even more. I headed south for college, where I attended the College of Charleston. In my four years there I was a division one equestrian, a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, double majored in Philosophy and Sociology and minored in Crime, Law, and Society. While I did not major in environmental studies, my childhood was filled with time spent in nature and animals, inspiring me to pursue work in that field.

After graduating from college, I joined the Peace Corps. I am currently living in a small community in Paraguay and working in environmental conservation. My projects range from starting tree nurseries and planting trees, to teaching in the school and working with the local government on waste management projects. While I spend most of my time working, I have also had many amazing opportunities to travel around the country, and to other countries in South America. I cannot wait to get to know all of you and be able to share my journey in this amazing country!

Peace Corps Volunteers like me live and work side by side with community members around the world, collaborating on locally prioritized projects, building relationships, exchanging cultures and knowledge, and helping transform lives for generations. Learn more by clicking here.
