Tabemashou (Let's Eat)!

Introduction:

Japan has delicious food. Whether it is sushi, ramen, yakitori (grilled chicken) or anything else, I have loved every meal I've had here. Not only does the food taste great, but people here put a lot of thought into making sure it looks good. Further, in Japan I have tried a lot of foods that I would never have even considered eating in the U.S. Let's check out some of the most unique and delicious foods I've had in Japan!

What food did I try?:

One food I've had a lot here is sushi. Unlike sushi in the U.S., which is rolled and has seaweed on the outside, sushi in Japan is usually a ball of rice with a piece of raw fish on top. You can get every fish imaginable on the sushi! I've had tuna, salmon, eel, sea urchin, whale, pufferfish and even fish eggs. I've also had sushi with meat on top, such as raw chicken sushi. Generally, it is dangerous to eat raw food, but in Japan, the meat is so fresh and the food is so carefully made that it is okay.

Another delicious food I've tried is ramen. Ramen refers to a type of thin wheat noodles. Usually, ramen consists of a soup of noodles with toppings on top, but sometimes you can get dried ramen. My favorite part of going to a ramen shop is the environment. Usually it is a tiny shop, with a maximum of ten seats at a counter, and you can look into the kitchen as the cook is preparing your food.
