Therefore, after finishing a bottle of water, you have to carry it around until you find the special plastic bottle bin to put it in.

What was the best meal this week?:

The best meal of the week was a Hiroshima speciality called okonomiyaki. Okonomi means "your choice" and yaki means "fried." Therefore, you get to pick whatever toppings you want in your okonomiyaki. When eating it, the table you sit at is actually the stove. The chef makes okonomiyaki by first making something like a thin pancake, then adding soba noodles and lettuce on top, then your toppings, and then adding an egg. It is served to you on the stove-table, so you are eating it while it is still cooking. If you take too long to eat it, the bottom will burn.

While on Miyajima island, I also ate maple leaf cookies. There were machines all over the island squeezing dough into maple leaf molds, inserting filling, and baking them. You could get various fillings, including red bean, green tea, chocolate, lemon, and many more. I bought some as omiyage, or souvenirs, to share with my labmates.

What music did I listen to this week?:

I did not listen to any special music in Hiroshima. However, the music I listened to earlier in the week was Lady Gaga, Hamilton and Ed Sheeren. I also recently discovered that some old songs are really good. So I listened to songs from the 1960s, like Frank Sinatra's "My Way" and Louis Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World." I also listened to some Japanese songs, such as EXILE's "Rising Sun" and NEWS's "Hoshi Wo Mezashite," which means "Reach For the Stars."
