The weather in Hiroshima was beautiful. The sky was clear, and it was sunny. Because we took the overnight bus, I arrived there at 5:40 a.m., in time for sunrise. Further, while I was there I saw the sunset every night. The clear sky made the sunrises and sunsets truly beautiful.
On the second day in Hiroshima, I went to nearby Miyajima island. Miyajima is famous for a floating torii gate, which is the large red gate at the entrance of Shinto temples. However, one thing I did not expect to see was wild deer. As soon as I got off the ferry, there were deer everywhere! They were mostly just walking the streets alongside the people. Some of the deer let people pet them, and in fact, one let a little kid ride on its back. I think the real reason the deer were being so timid in front of people, though, is because they wanted food. In fact, one deer jumped up to try to get the chocolate in my hand!
