While South Africa has around 10 official languages, Afrikaans and English are the two most popular languages. The University that I went to taught in Afrikaans, except I was in the Honors program, so all of the students and teachers had to teach and speak in English.
The money in this area was the same that is used all over South Africa, which is the South African rand. You can Google the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar and rand! It changes often, but it is still something cool to know!

They have a very large 'mini' market on campus with freshly cooked meals every day. I always met my friends there and we would get food and then sit in the stadium right next to it and enjoy lunch together! I love sushi and surprisingly, they had great fresh sushi! So that was my best meal any day of the week!
