Mimosa Tree!

Where does it live?:

This type of plant is native to Southwest Australia. However, now, this plant is a widespread shrub in any Mediterranean climate. A Mediterranean climate is a climate that typically has very wet, rainy winters and dry, hot summers. This is PERFECT for Asturias!

How does it use its environment to survive?:

The species of mimosa trees use the intense rain and the sun of the climate to grow rapidly. However, the mimosa tree is known as a weed and can negatively influence crops. This plant can also develop in the form of a bush (remaining on the ground). This sometimes causes the plant to grow within crops, taking the nutrients from them, thus impeding the growth of the crops.

What can harm this creature or plant? Are we worried about it?:

We are not worried about this plant because it can survive the climate that it lives in. The main threat to this plant is people cutting it down. The wood of the plant can be used to make furniture, and the flowers of the tree are cut and sold in many parts of the world. The only weather that this plant cannot survive in is a prolonged frost.
