The BBC recently broadcast a short special on the water crisis in Lesotho and the effects of Katse Dam on locals, which you can view here: https://youtu.be/Gn8D_jMEaOM?si=NLbwHRnBUY9XYs9g
Visiting the dams is an important milestone for schoolchildren in Lesotho. I first went to Mohale Dam in October of 2023 with my Peace Corps cohort, and then I went again in September of 2024 with my primary school. As there are no large natural bodies of water in Lesotho, it is the first time that most students have seen this amount of water. They have the chance to take a short boat tour and ride horses along the shoreline. The students had a fantastic time and we hope to visit Katse Dam next year, which I hear is even bigger and better than Mohale.
