Travel News

How far did I travel this week?:

Not very far! I mostly stayed at home and near my workplace in Munich, Germany, from Monday to Friday. Over the weekend, I traveled with some friends to the Eibsee, a lake about 100 km (or 62.1 miles) southwest of Munich. We walked around the lake and saw views of the Zugspitze, which is Germany’s tallest mountain and located right next to the Eibsee.

How far have I traveled on this journey so far?:

Since starting my experience abroad in September of last year, I have traveled to many places. I first left from Seattle, Washington, and traveled to Munich, Germany, which was approximately 8500 km (or 5300 miles). While living in Munich, I have gone on frequent weekend trips to nearby towns and cities such as Nuremberg or Salzburg, which are usually 100 to 200 km (or 62 to 124 miles) away. In December, I traveled back to Seattle to visit family and then back to Munich, which accounts for another 17000 km (or 10600 miles). Shortly after New Year’s Day, I traveled from Munich to Vienna, the capital city of Austria, and then to Budapest, the capital city of Hungary, before returning to Munich. This trip covered around 1300 km (or 807 miles). Adding everything together, I have traveled at least 27000 km (or 16777 miles) so far!

How did I get around this week?:

I mostly traveled to work this week by walking or taking a local bus.
