Women in the couple's family get beautiful mehendi, or henna, designs drawn on their hands and feet for the wedding! Mehendi is a paste made from leaves that dyes your skin red, like a temporary tattoo
Even the family dog got a matching tuxedo at the wedding sangeet!
This is my aunt and uncle, the parents of the groom! My uncle is wearing a pagri, or wedding turban, which is worn by all married men at Hindu weddings
These are the traditional bride and groom outfits in India! The bride wears a red lehenga (pronounced leng-ah) with lots of jewelry, and the groom wears a white sherwani (pronounced share-wah-nee)
After the wedding, the groom's family gives gifts to the bride. This picture shows my grandmother feeding her new granddaughter-in-law some sweets.
Grooms in India ride horses or elephants when they go to their wedding! Watch the video to see my cousin get up on the horse :)
This is me with a few of my cousins and aunts, with my grandmother in the middle. We are all dressed up to go to the wedding!
After the wedding, the bride and groom play a game where they hide the bride's ring in a bowl of milk. The first person to find the ring wings the game (in this case, the bride!)
