Nature News

So this week, I was so excited when one of the professors at my school invited me to go with her. After about a 45 minute bus ride on a cold, rainy morning, my professor and I arrived to the main entrance. Normally, people go hiking around the perimeter of the lake, but we decided not to because the weather could have made hiking dangerous. Instead, we found a small outdoor cafe to chat and enjoy some snacks and the view of the lake. We ordered a couple of glasses of panela, a warm, sweet drink that sort of tasted like very sweet hot tea. We also got a few empanadas de queso, or fried dough with cheese in the middle. Even though we didn’t get to go hiking, I loved the view and walking to the edge of the water.

Other Nature News from this week:

I’m slowly building up my balcony garden! This week, I bought another big plant to put on my balcony. I also bought a bag of soil and a couple nice ceramic pots to transfer my plants into. I have a lot of space on my balcony, so I really like having my plants there to give some life to my apartment. My compost bin is also going well! It’s a little smelly, but I’m hoping to have some good compost to add to my plant’s soil soon.
