In addition to fresh watermelon, pineapple, papaya and apple, it was topped with fruit flavored ice cream and cheese. I was skeptical about eating ice cream and cheese at first, but it was actually really good!

What music did I listen to this week?:

I love listening to music while I cook dinner. One of my friends recommended the folk and alternative playlist on Spotify, so I’ve been listening to that a lot this week. I love calm and relaxing music, especially when I’m doing something like cooking or reading.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

This week I visited Cotacachi, a city a half hour from Ibarra by bus. Cotacachi is a cute little tourist town known for markets full of authentic leather products. After getting lunch in a small cafe, my friend and I walked around window-shopping and saw a huge variety of leather belts, shoes, purses, jackets, and pretty much anything else you can think of. One store had a deal for leather shoes for only $35. Usually, high-quality leather shoes in the U.S. are at least $75 (according to my mom at least). I’m not a fan of shopping, but when my mom visits, I definitely plan on taking her back so she can shop to her heart’s content. What would you try to buy in Cotacachi?

What did I read this week?:

This week, I helped my students with their final projects. Once class’ project was making a tourist booklet about Ibarra, called “Wonders of Ibarra.” It’s about 20 pages long and has sections about Ibarra’s history, tourist attractions, food and general culture. I read and edited my students’ drafts for the booklet.
