German is the main language spoken here. However, Arabic and Chinese are also spoken by many people here as well. This is partially because there is a university here. There are many students from around the world, especially from China. Many people speak Arabic here because they migrated here from Arabic-speaking countries like Lebanon, Egypt and Syria.
Germany uses the euro, as do all other countries in the European Union. That means that no matter where I travel in the European Union, I can use the same money!
A 1.5 litre bottle (a big bottle) of water at a grocery store costs about 0.19 euros + a 0.25 euro charge for plastic. The grand total is 0.44 euros, or, in USD, 49 cents. However, if you buy water from a restaurant, it costs about 2 or 3 euros for a 0.5 litre bottle (that's a small bottle).
Since this week is just starting, I'm going to share my Christmas meal with you. It's a traditional German meal of cooked goose leg, mashed potatoes and braised red cabbage.
