Our News

What music did I listen to this week?:

This week, I did not listen to a lot of music. Around holidays or political events, people will drive around playing Senegalese music. This is very loud but enjoyable! This past week I had a lot of work so I was not able to listen to much music.

What activity was the most fun this week?:

My favorite activity I did this week was when I went to the cafe with my Wolof teacher Ibra. He was excited to have me try to order in Wolof, which I didn't think I would be able to do. However, I surprised myself and was able to order and have a short conversation. It was fun to see how much I have learned and try to use a new language!

What did I read this week?:

This week I read two books. I started and finished Out of My Mind by Sharon Draper because my friends and I are going to watch the new movie next week. I also started The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood for the book club that I help run. My students selected this book from our library because they had heard a lot about it, so now I have to read it so that I can help them understand it better.

What games or sports did I play this week?:

I recently broke my ankle walking to work, so sadly I am not able to play any sports. Normally, I will play soccer or basketball with some of my students on the weekends. I also hold monthly dance classes to teach different styles of dance since I grew up as a competetive dancer.

Other news from this week:

Overall, this past week was very normal, which is nice. Sometimes it is nice to have an easy week so that you can rest before being busy again.
