Travel News

What was the most interesting place I visited this week?:

The most interesting place I visited this week was a poultry farm. Every day I walk past the same buildings when I take my dog, Matcha, to the bathroom. This week one of the people who works at the poultry farm asked if I wanted to join them for tea and see the chickens. Being invited to join in for lunch or tea is very common in Senegal, so I accepted the invitation and was able to see what a chicken farm in another country looks like. It was very different than the ones I see in the United States. The chickens were quite large and stayed in big pens rather than cages. Since everything is outside they have guard dogs that protects the chickens at night. Although the dogs are big, they were very nice!

Other Travel News from this week:

This week I started planning for a trip to Uganda! When I was in Uganda last year, I worked with the Center for Rural and Sustainable Livlihoods. I made a lot of friends and they invited me to come speak at a conference they are holding in April. I am very excited to travel back to Uganda and share what I have learned in Senegal.
