Life for me began in Flushing, Queens where I was born to an immigrant mother from the West Indies. My mom came to the U.S. for both a better life and the opportunity to work hard and provide for her family. Up until the age of three I lived in New York City, and then I moved as a young boy to Montego Bay, Jamaica. I lived with my aunt who was a source of wisdom, guiding me through those early years and instilling in me a sense of pride in who I am. She also taught me independence and determination, both of which have been incredibly important for me throughout my life thus far. She also taught me the importance of being caring and compassionate to each and every person that I meet.
For most of my schooling, I bounced back and forth between Florida and Jamaica. I attended pre-K through primary school in Jamaica. I then moved to Florida for middle school, where I spent seventh and eighth grade at Lauderhill Middle School. I moved back to Jamaica for high school and completed ninth through 11th grade, which is the grade level that high school ends in Jamaica. After graduating I moved back to Florida and enrolled back into high school where I completed my final year in 12th grade.
