Dia daoibh (Hello to you all)! My name is Bailey. I grew up in Rhode Island. It is the smallest state in the United States! Sometimes people can’t even find it on a map. I went to school in a very small town called Portsmouth. Later, I went to a college nearby called Brown. At Brown, I learned about the brain. The brain is amazing! It uses tiny sparks, called electricity, to send messages all through the body.
After college, I moved to Boston. There, I worked with special machines that can take pictures of the brain. I learned a lot about how sleep helps us remember things. That was very exciting! But I always wanted to be a doctor. I wanted to use what I know about the brain to help people feel better. So, I studied in Miami to become a doctor. I learned how growing up can change our health. I thought that was really important.
My grandma is from Ireland, and I always wanted to see where she grew up. So, I applied to a program (Fulbright) that lets me live in Ireland while I learn even more about how our childhood affects our health. Here in Ireland, I am so excited to keep learning about my favorite things—our brain, our health, and how they work together! Come with me on my journey in Ireland as I learn about science and explore the history and mythology of the land! I can't wait to meet you all.
