This week I listened to the new Kendrick Lamar album, Leon Bridges, Bob Marley and Tyla. This is not super typical for Brazillian people in Rio to lsiten to. While I was passing the common area in my building I heard some music playing that sounded good so I asked them what it was called. The songs were called " Nos Combina" by Maolee and "Paranoias" by Caio Luccas. They are like Brazillian rap, and it was pretty good, I gotta say! I even added it to my Spotify playlist
The most fun activity I did this week was visiting the Christ the Redeemer statue for the first time with my dad and my girlfriend. This was a lot of fun because my girlfriend and dad had never met, and we all got to experience the special experience together of seeing one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
This week I read an article for my pop philosophy class. It was about the concept of whether it is okay to laugh at offensive things and about the power humor has as a means of social commentary. The article used the TV show South Park as an example. I found it very interesting and thought provoking.
This week while at the beach I played futevolei. This a Brazillian sport played on the beach that combines soccer and beach volleyball. The object is to get the ball over the net but you can kick it, use your upper body or head it over as well. It is difficult, but very fun to play and to watch!
