I also see it everyday from afar because I live in the South Zone of Rio, where it is visible from most places. One thing that was different than I expected was there is a heart carved into the middle of the statue, which I thought was a nice touch. I felt in awe to be in the presence of something so meaningful and historic.
My dad came to visit me this week. It was great being able to see a loved one after such a long time being away. I haven't had that sense of familiarity in a long time. It was really nice being able to share these new experiences with a loved one. One unique thing I did was take my dad to get a haircut at my Brazilian barbershop. This was a memorable experience for the both of us and was really special.
