Hi everyone! The time has come to bid you farewell. Over the last few months, it has been so exciting to share more about Ghana and the Peace Corps with you. From daily life, to farm animals, to its national crop of cocoa – I hope this journey has given you a glimpse of a different culture not often seen in much of the United States.

Living and working here has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. One big lesson I learned is that daily life can look very different depending on where you live. Many things that might feel normal in your life, like having your own phone, playing video games anytime, or eating at restaurants, are rare luxuries in many parts of the world.

At the same time, I’ve also learned how much we all have in common. Even when people live far apart and speak different languages, people everywhere care deeply about their families, their friends and their communities. Communities here are full of joy, friendship, and strong family bonds. Kids laugh with their friends, help their families, play outside, and look out for one another. One of the biggest differences is about access to resources, not what people care about in their hearts.

Because of this, it’s important to notice the opportunities you have.
