Stopping for a Cold Weather Pick-Me-Up

Introduction:

One thing you'll find plenty of when you come to Seoul is street food! Food trucks, stalls and carts selling a variety of foods are everywhere. Coming from a small town in the Midwest, this was quite a change for me since we only had the occasional food truck here and there. However, having some quick and delicious food on the go while exploring, shopping and wandering around was something I quickly got used to. It's one of the things I will miss most when I leave. Now that it's winter time and the weather is particularly unpleasant, there are a couple of popular street foods that really hit the spot on a cold day.

What food did I try?:

My absolute favorite winter street food is bungeoppang. It is a combination of the words bungeo ("carp") and ppang ("bread") and named for its fish shape. However, you won't find any fish in these tasty snacks! They are usually filled with sweet red bean, but you can also find pastry cream, chocolate, ice cream or even pizza filling. My personal favorite is the cream one!

How did I feel when I tried it?:

Picking up a few hot and crispy bungeoppang on a cold day is the perfect pick-me-up. There is a stall that sells them between my university and my dorm so it always makes me happy to grab a warm snack on the way home.
