Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil are the languages spoken here. Fewer people speak English than in the bigger city. When I go to the night markets, I often speak a little bit of Malay and the vendors will speak a little bit of English.
The ringgit is still used here in Pahang. Remember, four Malaysian ringgit is equal to one U.S. dollar.
A bottle of water costs about 1 or 2 ringgit.
My best meal this week was Nasi Kunyit (Turmeric Glutinous Rice) which is yellow sticky rice. I ate it with chicken but it is sometimes served with fish instead. It is usually cooked for weddings and special occasions. Is there a food that your family cooks or eats for special occasions?
This week I listened to Malaysian street music. The beach is busier in the evening. People will play instruments or sing while others sit in the sand to watch.
