The Hot and Humid Tropical Rainforest

Much like we prepare for lots of snow during the winter months, Malaysians prepare for Monsoon season around the same time of the year.

How have people been adapting to this environment?:

Unlike the U.S., many homes, stores and schools are not closed off to the outside. The buildings here are open, meaning there is no door or front wall even. You can just walk right in.

Malaysians also use their local resources, the foods that they can grow right here in their country. For example, coconuts are easy to grow in this climate. You will find coconut in many Malaysian dishes. It may be coconut milk, shredded coconut, coconut water or coconut cream.

It is so hot that most Malaysians do not have dryers to dry their laundry. They may use a washing machine or hand wash their clothes but to dry them, they will hang them to dry outside. It is a great way to reduce their electricity and instead, use natural energy from the sun to dry their clothing.
