Dear students,
Before I lived in Paris, I lived in Boston, which was my home for many years. Experiencing both cities has shown me how two places can be very different but still equally special.
Boston feels calm and grounded. Even though it is a city, it often feels small and quiet, especially near the Boston Common parks and public gardens. The history is everywhere. Walking through Boston, you can see old brown stone buildings and streets that played an important role in the beginning of the United States.
Paris feels more alive and energetic. The city is always moving, with bustling cafés, busy streets and beautiful architecture everywhere. Life in Paris feels more about enjoying the moment, while life in Boston feels more focused on routines and schedules.
The pace of life is different in each city. In Boston, people move quickly and stay organized. In Paris, people take their time, especially when eating or spending time with others.
Food is also different. In Boston, meals are often fast and portions are bigger. In Paris, food is more traditional, and meals are meant to be enjoyed slowly.
Living in Boston taught me independence and structure. Living in Paris has taught me to slow down and appreciate culture. As you visit Boston, notice how the city feels compared to Paris and think about what stands out to you most.
I’m excited for you to experience a city that was once my home!
