Hey there! My name is Brandon Perez, and I'm a Mexican American from the Bronx. Living in such a diverse city influenced my interest in learning about many cultures. Growing up, I took many trips to Mexico with my family and even studied abroad there for a summer in elementary school. I am able to broaden my horizons in college because I learned about the connections between Mexico in Japan since the colonial period.
I plan to live here for the next couple of months (or maybe even longer) while trying to interact with ethnic communities in Japan. I look forward to meeting you and teaching you a bit about what I am learning!
I am a Fund for Education Abroad scholarship recipient. The mission of the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is to provide scholarships and ongoing support to students who are underrepresented among the U.S. study abroad population. FEA aims to support students of color, first-generation college, and community college students with award amounts up to $10,000 for an academic year abroad.
