Japan Railways: Japan's Amazing Trains

Introduction:

When I first got to Japan, I was scared about being late to my dorm, school, or to events. However, Japan has some of the best trains and the Shinkansen (sheen-kan-sen), also known as bullet trains, are some of the coolest in the world. The trains in Japan are always on time and rarely late so I did not have to worry about being late to anything!

How do people get around?:

The most popular forms of transportation in Japan are trains and bicycles. To get to nearby areas like work and school, people use the trains to get around and bikes. However, to travel farther throughout Japan, people use the Shinkansen. People in Japan use so many bicycles that they have garage shops to help with maintenance. In fact, there are 'parking lots' for bicycles in certain stores where you can 'park' your bicycle. I prefer to use the trains since I can do work or relax while I wait to get to my destination. I have not used a bike in Japan yet.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

At first, I felt scared of riding on trains because everything was in Japanese, and the first time I used a train in Japan, I was by myself at the airport train station.
