Hey there! I'm Bria Collins, a major film geek and travel explorer. Currently, I'm studying abroad in Urbino, Italy for three months, but originally, I am from Beaumont, Texas. Since fourth grade, my passion has been the art of screenwriting and creating my own drama shows. In high school, I was president of a mixed acting and film club known as "Dramatic Irony". In this club, I had a few teachers invest time in me and help craft my creative writing skills. I also became fascinated by the differences between American, European, and Asian-produced media and what it conveys about their societies.
In 2021, I enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio as a modern languages major, linguistics minor, and film studies minor. For my Spring 2024 Linguistic term paper I covered Neorealism in Italy after World War II, analyzing not only how the war affected the film industry, but also the social and cultural implications this cinematic movement portrayed about Italians during the period. It was very enjoyable to research, so I applied for and received the Gilman Scholarship to visit Italy and experience the culture and art for myself.
