How was the weather this week?:

In Costa Rica, we really only have two seasons, summer and "winter". However, it's better to think about summer as the "dry" season and winter as the "rainy" season because the temperature remains fairly constant throughout the year. Currently, we're at the height of the dry season, so there isn't a lot of rain to cool off the town. It's hot!

What animals did I see this week? :

I spotted a few howler monkeys (or congos, as they're called here) in the small patch of forest across from my house. Since it's the dry season, there are a few new bird species cropping up in Tronadora, such as toucans! The onset of dry season also means that animals that prefer cool, dark and humid environments tend to make their ways indoors. As a result, I've been scooping small frogs out of my bathroom for the past couple of days.

What was the coolest thing I saw in nature this week?:

I saw an absolutely stellar caterpillar this week as well as a monstrous spider. Unfortunately, I didn't come across either of these insects out in the jungle.
