Teamwork is the Dream Work!

Journal Entry:

I have always been on a swim team. I love spending time with my friends and working towards a common goal. I have not yet found a team in Guayaquil, but I hope to soon! When I first started researching, I realized that sports teams are certainly not the only teams out there. Being a scientist also means being part of a team. In order to succeed in my science research projects, I need to work with other students, professors, experts, and local people. What kinds of teams are you a part of?

The best science happens when lots of people are working together. When I was living in Madagascar, I worked with a huge team of research technicians. They helped me collect data. We all lived together in the forest! We had to make sure that we took care of each other.

Here in Ecuador, although I am not living in the middle of the forest, I still have a big, wonderful research team. My supervisor at the university has studied mangroves for 19 years, and is able to guide me so well. I will also be working with students from the university! They are also working on other mangrove research projects. Professors from other departments have reached out to me, too. They have been asking to meet and talk about working together. When we share our data with each other, it will make all of our projects much stronger.

In any scientific project, communication is so important. I do understand Spanish quite well.
