Because of this, the city was extremely different, and it was amazing to be able to see the way in which Japanese people lived before globalization.
This week I learned that taxis are much cheaper in Tokyo. When I missed the last train in Osaka and couldn't get home, it would have cost me 8,000 yen (about $80) to get the extra 40 minutes home. In Tokyo, it only cost us 4,000 yen (about $40) to get back to our hostel when we missed the subway. Maybe the city is better!
