As you probably read in my bio, I live in London, Ontario, which is in Canada. Our peatlands are located near a town called White River, still in the same province of Ontario. Fun fact: this is the Winnie the Pooh town, the original one! I live more than twelve hours driving from there and it takes a whole day of traveling as you can see on the map on the right. White River has less than 1,000 people in total! Have you been to a city that small?
Well, twelve hours is a long drive, right? To be safe, I never go alone. There are always at least two people going. This makes the whole trip more enjoyable and the person who is not driving gets to appreciate and take pictures of the beautiful nature all the way there. Now that we're on the road, let me tell you more about my travels!
There's no public transportation in town, except the train that crosses it. You can drive, bike or walk to get around. Most people in town own a car because they need to drive to the grocery store or somewhere else that is not nearby. Another interesting fact is that much of the town's culture is around the Winnie the Pooh story. They even have a festival every August to celebrate it!
