






Last Wednesday, I took a 40 minute train ride to Santiago de Compostela for our Fulbright Mid-Year Conference. I was in Santiago until Saturday morning. Then, since it was my roommate's birthday this week, we took a three hour bus from Santiago to Porto, Portugal to celebrate her birthday weekend.
I have been very fortunate to travel a lot throughout Galicia and within Spain a bit. One of my favorite cities to visit within Galicia is Vigo since there is great nightlife there and it is on the coast. However, the farthest place from Ourense I visited was when my roommate and I took a weekend trip to Paris in November.
I walk everywhere in Ourense! Everything I need is within walking distance of my apartment, or flat, which is awesome. My school is a 20 minute walk from my apartment, and the train and bus station is a 30 minute walk.
Santiago de Compostela has such a rich history, since that is the final destination for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago. The Catedral (cathedral) de Santiago de Compostela, supposedly houses the remains of the Apostle St.
