A Taste of Southern Italy

Introduction:

Zucchini alla Scapece is a classic Italian dish from Naples. It is roasted zucchini marinated in tangy vinegar with mint and garlic, creating a vibrant and aromatic flavor.

What food did I try?:

Over my time in Italy, I’ve tried numerous pasta dishes, pizza varieties and authentic local delicacies. One dish that truly stands out, and has become my all-time favorite, is Zucchini alla Scapece. I love this dish because of its perfect balance of flavors. I first tasted this zucchini recipe during my trip to Rome, at my Italian friend’s family's home. They prepared it as part of a Southern Italian traditional meal, and ever since first tasting the dish, I’ve tried to replicate it at home, each attempt bringing back memories of that meal and the warm, inviting atmosphere that accompanied it.

How did I feel when I tried it?:

When I first tried Zucchini alla Scapece, I felt an immediate sense of surprise and delight. Each bite was a burst of contrasting flavors that worked so well together, and I was taken aback by how such a simple dish could deliver such depth. It wasn’t just the taste that moved me, but the feeling of being connected to a long-standing Italian tradition that made the experience both heartwarming and memorable!
