These networks are straightforward, affordable, and they make it easy to explore different neighborhoods without getting stuck in traffic. For longer distances, I’ve tried budget flights too. Europe has several low-cost airlines that make it possible to fly between countries for a fraction of the price of other means of travel. Although these planes sometimes land at smaller airports that are further outside your destination city, air-travel is still a great option when I need to cover more ground quickly. Each mode of transport has given me a unique view of Europe, and I love how easy it is to mix and match options to suit my plans.
Initially, getting around was very overwhelming for me, especially due to the language barrier. Over time, though, I started to get the hang of navigating. I learned to rely on translation apps, maps and even gestures, when necessary, in order to find my way around. Asking locals for help turned out to be easier than I thought – most people were kind and willing to assist, even if we didn’t share a common language. Little by little, I became more confident, and now I actually enjoy the challenge of figuring out each new city’s transit system. What was once overwhelming has turned into part of the adventure for me.
Using public transportation, like trains and buses, has shown me how much Europeans value accessibility and sustainability, with eco-friendly options everywhere to keep cities clean and reduce traffic.
