The main language is Malay, but English is often used in school and business.
The Malaysian Ringgit is used here. One U.S. dollar is about 4 Ringgit, so a meal that is 16 Ringgit is $4 dollars.
A bottle of water costs roughly 15 ringgit ($3 - $4 dollars), but a meal also costs about that much. Eating at a restaurant costs about $6 per person and eating from the street food vendors costs about $2 - $3 per person.
The best meal was Indian food: chicken tikka, dal with rice, naan bread, roasted vegetables in curry and roti (more bread). It was delicious and we ate with our hands, no forks or knives in the restaurant!
I listened to street performers singing Bon Jovi, I heard Jonas Brothers playing in a nearby cafe and I listened to my Spotify for my daily dose of Taylor Swift.
