Week 3: Living Away From Home

Have you ever noticed where you live something like this? Do the buildings look the same in your downtown area, your home or even the same near your school? The buildings here can take over hundreds of years to make because they put a lot of pride into what they are creating! This is not like America; we tend to have buildings created as quickly as possible.

Another big difference that I have noticed while I been here is that this country deeply cares about the environment. New York is almost three times as big as Italy. Italy is smaller, but they use lots of transportation that is good for the environment even though they don’t need to (electric cars, scooters and public transit). In the United States, things like “electric cars” are not as common to see on the streets.

Have you heard of recycling? Recycling is reusing materials. Wherever you go, you will see big containers on the street where different products like paper, plastic or glass are separated.

Lastly, food and meals are viewed differently here. Every meal except for breakfast includes pasta! Italians also drink lots of water here at every meal. You will not find them drinking soda, pop or juice very often.

Stay tuned to more exciting details about my journey.

A presto! (Talk to you soon)
