Italy has a lot of gorgeous cities and historical architecture, but one of my favorite things about Italy is the natural environment. There is a wide range of weather all across the country. In the far North of Italy, there’s the Alps, large lakes and snow during the winter. In the South, there are beaches, islands and tropical plants. I live in Northern Italy, so one of my favorite things to do is enjoy the mountains around Lake Como. While visiting, I’ve noticed many houses located far up the mountain side with really steep roads and paths to get to them. I think it’s amazing that people have found a way to live in these beautiful mountains!
Lake Como is unique for a couple reasons. First, the lake is shaped like a ‘Y’, and it is so big that you can’t ever see all of the lake at the same time. Second, the mountains go all the way to the edge of the lake, which makes the landscape dramatic and beautiful. The combination of water, forest and high peaks makes it one of the most stunning places in Italy.
