That being said, I have been surprised at how many Irish people don't seem to mind getting rained on. Umbrellas are not often used, especially because rain is normally mixed with wind which kind of messes up umbrellas! But they even wear clothes sometimes which aren't very warm or water-wicking. I guess people have just adapted to the point that they don't mind feeling cold or wet some of the time. There are local pubs EVERYWHERE, so people just stop in one of these to warm up and chat up friends...and strangers!
Overall, I would say the Irish just don't let the wet and the cold get to them. If they want to go swimming in the ocean, they do! If they want to go surfing, they do! If they want to go hiking, they do! Will the weather be bad at some point during their outing? Probably, but since this bad weather won't last any longer than the good weather, why should that stop them? I have taken this personal philosophy to heart since I think it's a great mentality to have. To enjoy life, don't wait for the "right" circumstances, just go with whatever circumstances there are!
