English is the official language of Namibia but other languages are in very common and spoken by many of the native people such as Afrikaans, Herero, Damara and Ovambo.
Two types of currency used in Namibia are the Namibian dollar and the South African rand. They are both worth and treated the same in Namibia.
A normal size bottle of water costs around 15 Namibian dollars, which is equivalent to around 80 cents in the U.S. or 74 Euro cents.
My favorite meal this week is Potjie (pronounced "Poy-Key"), which is a mixed stew with meat, potatoes and vegetables cooked over an open fire in a big cast iron pot, called a Potjie Pot. The Potjie Pot looks like a Halloween cauldron.... but it is absolutely delicious!
We do not listen to a lot of music here at CCF! When we are traveling around the farms, we have to be as quiet as possible so we do not scare the wildlife. We also can't use headphones because we have to be very aware of what's around us at all times. Maybe we will listen to more music next week on our town trip!
