A Day in the Life of an Italian Kid

They give lots of everything!

What jobs do your parents have?:

Bernardo: My dad is a professor of political science and my mother is the manager of the University of Notre Dame in Rome.

What time does school start, and what time do you go home?:

Bernardo: I have to be there by 8:40 in the morning and get out at 4:30pm

How do you get to school? Are you allowed to go to school by yourself?:

Bernardo: I go to school by car.

Where do you eat lunch? What is your favorite food?:

Bernardo: Depends. During the school week, I eat lunch at school. During the weekend, I eat lunch at home. My favorite food is a very yummy type of hamburger. 

What language do you speak at school? How do you say "Hello" in your language?:

We all speak Italian at school, but we are learning other languages like English. We say "Hello" in Italian by saying "Ciao!"

What are some common kids' names at your school?:

Bernardo: They’re almost all Italian, so expect the unexpected! Leonardo, Mattia, Giulia, Matilde, Giordano, Ludovica, Tommaso and those types of names.

What subjects do you study in school, and which one is your favorite?:

Teddy: I study Math, Italian, English, Spanish, Science, History, Geography, Religion, Music, Art, Technology, Civic Education, PE. My favorite subject is PE.

What is your homework like?:

Teddy: My homework is often difficult, we have to do math or grammar exercises or study history and geography and read texts.
