¡Transporte en España! (Transportation in Spain!)

Introduction:

Madrid is the capital of Spain and a large, bustling city. Here, people travel by public transportation, by car and on foot. The city has an extensive network of local subway trains, regional trains and buses that help people reach nearly any part of the city. The trains run from 6:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Meanwhile, buses run all day, every day. The frequency of trains and buses makes it quite easy to get around the city.

How do people get around?:

One aspect that surprised me is the prevalence (commonness) of motorcycles in Madrid. Many people order Glovo, the Madrid equivalent of Uber Eats. Glovo delivery drivers largely ride motorcycles with large containers attached to the back to hold their deliveries. While I have yet to ride a motorcycle or order from Glovo, I may do so one day!

I feel at home when getting around in Madrid. Public transportation is very accessible and intuitive (easily understandable). I also appreciate that the city has a transit card that's discounted for students. This card allows me to take unlimited transit trips for only 10 euros per month.

How did I feel when I tried this way of getting around?:

Getting around in Madrid is a safe and comfortable experience. This city is safer than Philadelphia, where I go to school.
