The weather was beautiful this week! It was very sunny and windy. I was able to ride my bike and go on a lot of walks.
I saw several dogs, cats and fish when I went to the beach this weekend.
I saw a free diver, called a haenyeo! These women divers go underwater to pick up clams and other shellfish from the ocean floor without SCUBA gear! They only use a wetsuit and mask. They are famous on my island and have been around for hundreds of years.
It was really cool seeing the haenyeo because there are not many left. Seeing these divers is one reason that some people come to visit Jeju Island. Now, though, they are mostly elderly women because many have stopped passing the tradition on to their daughters.
