I traveled to the other side of Jerusalem to the neighborhood of Talpiyot. It is about a 50 minutes bus ride from the student village. My internship is in Talpiyot, and that is where I found the community gardens and an incredible organic food store.
I have traveled upwards of 15 hours on public transportation in Israel so far. Though it is not always on time, it will get you where you need to go in Israel. As a student, it is very inexpensive, too! I am very thankful for public transportation.
I use the bus nearly every day. This was especially this true this week when I adventured to get food with friends, go to Talpiyot for my internship, go shopping and go out of Jerusalem to the wedding venue.
I think the organic food store was one of the most interesting places I visited. It had a lot of stuff that reminded me of home. The next best place was the wedding venue. It was near Jerusalem, but it was unlike any event space I had seen in Jerusalem. It was all white with incredible architecture and flowers and gardens. It was so beautiful!
