Everybody in Indonesia speaks Indonesian. However, each island has its own dialect--there are over 300 different dialects across the archipelego (chain of islands) nation.
Indonesian rupiah are used (in much larger denominations) than U.S. dollars. For example, a U.S. dollar is worth 14,500 Indoensian rupiah, and so almost everybody can call themselves a millionaire!
A bottle of water usually costs around 10,000 rupiah, which sounds like a lot, but it's really less than one U.S. dollar!
I ate a lot of nasi goreng, which means fried rice. It's delicious and comes with things like egg, scallions, pork and more.
