Traveler Bio

My name is Colin Nguyen, and I'm currently a junior majoring in Computer Science and Data Analytics at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. It's a really long way from my home in North Carolina, but I'll be even farther away from home when I travel all the way across the world to South Korea.

I'm a very curious person- the reason why I chose computer science was because I'm curious about the behind-the-scenes workings of the technology that I use every day. To me, it feels like I'm friends with someone whom I don't know anything about. Outside of that, I love to make art of any kind- from drawing, painting, and digital art all the way to playing my trumpet and composing music. Because of this passion, I was able to travel to Vietnam for a summer research project, and ever since then, I've wanted to travel even more.

I'm so fortunate for this opportunity; I was amazed that I was able to get the Gilman Scholarship, a selective national-level scholarship that gave me $3,000 towards my travels. I'm also lucky to have been awarded another selective national-level scholarship- the Questbridge Scholarship. This itself was the one who allowed me to attend college in the first place, and it was the spark that set me off on the journey that I'm on today.

I can't wait to travel to South Korea, and I'm even more excited that you guys want to tag along! See you then.
