Finally, I would also like to teach adults who are interested in learning English but have no experience whatsoever. Already, I have already seen people my age taking their own initiative to speak English with me and asking me how to say certain words or phrases in English. One guy who lives in my community who sells chipa on the bus speaks with a very good level of English, and he plans on eventually studying to be an English teacher. His name is Manuel, and he has taught himself everything he knows in English. He has been really excited to practice his English with me, and I proposed that we could co-teach the conversation club I am organizing. The goal of the Peace Corps is to make sustainable initiatives so that the community continues to benefit after my time here. Including Manuel on the teaching side of things would not only increase his confidence in his English, but it would also ensure that the English learning community doesn’t dissolve after I leave.
