This week, I traveled from Dublin to Brussels, Belgium, for my European Union (EU) study tour via a flight that took about one hour and 30 minutes. The European Union (EU) is a group of 27 European countries, including Ireland, that work closely together economically and politically. It felt surreal to go from rainy Dublin to the heart of Europe's shared political institutions in such a short time. Even though I hadn’t traveled a huge distance, the experience made me feel like I'd crossed into a completely different world for a few days.
So far on this journey, I'm about 5,300 miles from my home in Southern California. Traveling all the way to Dublin (and even popping over to Brussels for my EU tour) has really made me realize how far I've come--in both distance and experiences. It's been a huge change moving from the sunny West Coast to chilly, rainy Ireland!
This week, I got around mostly by plane and Uber. I flew from Dublin to Brussels for my EU study tour and then used Uber to get around the city when I was in a rush. However, I did use Brussels's public train, which was easy to navigate and very affordable.
