Hello Vikings!
My name is Da'juantay Wynter, I was born in Waterloo, Iowa, but raised in Sacramento California. I am a proud alumnus of Valley Hi School! During my time at Valley, I was involved in ASB, Key Club, equity committee & Avid!
I was raised in poverty alongside my three siblings, all of whom also went to Valley. I always viewed education and college as an opportunity to break free from the chains of poverty and to enable me to build the life full of my dreams. I eagerly pursued college, my heart set on a faraway school I'd only learned about a few months before applications, which is why I ended up at WashU in St. Louis.
I was accepted into the John B. Ervin Scholarship program, which provided me with a full-tuition scholarship. This fact alongside WashU's needs-based financial aid allows me to attend college for free! Truly a dream come true.
Looking back at my college journey so far, I am still in shock at the life I have been able to live. I am studying Educational Studies and American Culture Studies, my passion being for education policy.
