Since I am in one of the more central part of the country, I cannot order a plate of that type of rice!
Costa Rica is filled with microclimates where each region has its specific climate and it often varies with the immediate surrounding regions. For example, in one town they might be able to grow coffee, but just 20 minutes away from that town, they can't grown coffee but can grow sugarcane due to the changes in weather. Therefore, the common fruits and food you see depend on what can be directly grown in that region.
